What is the handicap range for the league?
The handicaps range from our few single digit players to the AJT max at 36. Our average handicaps in 2025 were 15.58 (Green Flight) & 26.13 (Blue Flight) with a 20.60 League wide index.

What are Flights?
A flight is a division within the league, that separates players based on scoring level. Our lower handicappers play in the "Green Flight", while the higher handicappers participate as the "Blue Flight"

What if I don't currently have a handicap?
No handicap, no worries. If you are new to the league, the 1st three rounds will be used to determine your starting AJT handicap. You will be ineligible for Net Prizes until 3 rounds have been completed.

Will I be penalized for missing a round?
Life happens, People have families, and it is completely understandable if you can't make it to every round. Therefore, to accommodate missed rounds AJT keeps your best 6 PPR (points per round) for the season standings. Bonus points are discontinued for 2026.

"I have a friend who is also in the league, am I able to play with them?"
PLEASE READ : Just like previous years, Friends and family will be able to play together during Rounds 1 & 4. Only 2 friends/family per foursome (No exceptions).
No worries though, you are bound to meet plenty of new friends along the way.

How are groupings determined for each round?
For regular season, groupings are based on handicaps with the lower handicaps going first. This is done for pace of play purposes. Exceptions are Rounds 1 & 4 where you can play with friends, and Round 8 which is based on Season Standings.

"I have other commitments later on that day, am I able to be put in the 1st group?"
Unfortunately, the answer is no with zero exceptions. We understand there are plenty of obligations more important than golf, however it's one of those things that has been taken advantage of in the past.

What Tees do you play from?
The Average Joe Tour utilizes the tees that roughly keep the course length between 5700-6000 yards, which are typically the "White" tees.
Starting in 2026, Players age 60+ are eligible to play from the Forward Tees. You must start the season at the forward tees and will become ineligible for Long Drive Contest unless you play contest hole from League Default tee box. No moving up a tee box after first round for handicap purposes.

What days are the events played?
AJT takes place once, sometimes twice per month. Suncoast, Suncoast South, Polk County, and First Coast are on Saturdays, while Nature Coast, North Central, Southwest, and Greater Orlando are on Sunday.

The price of green fees varies from round to round, with some courses more expensive than others. Rates typically tend to get cheaper as the season progresses and we enter the Summer months.
